Charles Hayes

Biography​:


Charles Hayes is a poet and photographer who studied with the poet
Duane Locke at the University of Tampa, where he was first
introduced to the poetry of Federico Garcia Lorca and found
inspiration equal to the epiphany brought on by his discovery
of Walt Whitman in 1969 -- the year he went with Bubby and
Bubby's Kansas Cherokeen wife, Colleen, to Woodstock.
In the 1980s, In 1978, his first book, From the Hudson to
the World, was published in New York (introduction by Pete
Seeger). Hayes earned his MA in Art Therapy at the Univeristy of
New Mexico. He does photography for the City of Peekskill, New York,
and is on his second major book, Photography In Love: Shooting Like Walt Whitman in the New Millenniium..​
