Jesús Rivera's "Reflection" embodies a rather unusual way to see a work of art, in that he removes it from conventional forms of artistic contemplation, which usually rely on a fixed (or premeditated) point-of-view. Conversely, Rivera's image compels the viewer's attention to fresh and innovative visual conceptualizations of the work. By affording multiple and shifting viewpoints, Rivera's "Reflection" furnishes the spectator with visual innovations that critically play with visual phrases and linguistic images, prompting the viewer to reconsider her/his processes of sight; thereby providing a new sense of space, which reconnects the viewer to what is actually seen or experienced. In this sense, Rivera challenges all the false facade(s) surrounding human countenance and appearances.

The title "Reflection" presages both the image and its (the image's) inversion, which is precisely how Rivera, in the piece, depicts reality, as an elaborate Platonic reflection revealing via a unique critical perspective -- the unreal world. In this light, for Rivera, 3-D is the best way to keep alive the human condition, and to facilitate the renewal and recreation of reality, the natural world, as well as depicting the condition of being nomadic. In fact, this conscientious and rigorous nomadic condition is one that Rivera often represents in his work by creating homes on wheels that carry stories, experiences and memories, as well as manifesting other human qualities.
