We Are You

let a hundred flowers bloom

let a thousand voices sing

let a million dreams awaken

to another Arab Spring

let the people’s movement flow from land to ‘nother land

let the boundaries dissolve

let diversity take a stand

let the itinerants find home wherever they migrate

let the arrogance of nations

not determine their fate.

let a hundred flowers bloom

let a thousand voices sing

let a million dreams awaken

to a We Are You Spring

Three Haikus

they fly north

birds blind by light

where is the nest?

restless winds

blow fallow dreams

into fertile soil

flowing north

on a bed of doubt

a river of hope
